As food insecurity and the cost of living continue to rise, it is essential to strengthen measures that enable individuals and families to access a nutritious and varied diet.
Implemented for several years in various regions of Quebec, food vouchers represent a promising avenue for increasing the purchasing power of people experiencing food insecurity, while supporting local economies.
To ensure the sustainability and expansion of these initiatives, we recommend that the Quebec government create a fund dedicated to food voucher initiatives, which could be financed, in part, by a tax on sugary drinks.
